There’s a story of a boy who’s dog would jump up on his bed and lay beside him all night while he slept. If the boy got up to use the bathroom the dog would sit at the bathroom door and then get back in bed with him when he was out. At breakfast the dog would sit at his feet. He would walk with the boy to the bus stop for school. When the bus drove off with the boy the dog would would run behind as far as he could. He would be at the bus stop when the boy returned, walk home with him, sit at his feet during diner, then follow him around till it was bed time, jump up on the bed and go through the whole process the next day, day in and day out. What caused the dog to do this for his teenage master? When the boy found the dog it was wandering the street, mangy, unkempt, destined for the pound where he would certainly have been eradicated. But this boy took him home, washed him, resuscitated, fed, and loved him. That dog never forgot where it had been when the boy found him. Jesus Christ has done the same thing for all mankind. Where would you be if He hadn’t found you? Is your gratefulness evident in the way you respond to the Master?
